Stuart Webber is a former Liverpool head of recruitment who held the post between 2009 and 2012. During his time at the club, the Reds signed the then-15-year-old Raheem Sterling.
Now Webber has made troublesome remarks about the 29-year-old and four other black British players.
Webber, who most recently worked at Norwich as a sporting director, told PinkUn: "We want to help the guys who really need it, not the ones who are maybe privileged. I saw that with our young footballers.
"Jonny Rowe wouldn’t mind me saying it but him, Abu Kamara, Max (Aarons), Jamal (Lewis), Raheem (Sterling) back in the day at Liverpool, where they come from it had to work out for them in football, because the alternative is potentially jail or something else."
As per the Mirror, Sterling and other players Webber mentioned have been 'deeply offended' by the Welshman's remarks.
Aarons' mother Amber accused the 39-year-old of "casual racism and blatant disrespect". Webber has reportedly apologised and contacted the players and their families to say sorry to each of them.
