Speaking on Sky Sports after Monday's game at Crystal Palace, Jamie Carragher said: "I said at half-time Erik ten Hag has got to bring Casemiro off. Yes, I know they've got kids on the bench.
"But I think Casemiro should know himself, as an experienced player, he should only play another three games at the top level. He should be thinking 'I need to go to the MLS or Saudi', I'm deadly serious.
"Casemiro has been an absolute player great and I am nowhere near on a level of what that man has achieved — [winning] Champions Leagues, playing for Brazil and playing for Real Madrid.
"But I remember something when I retired and there was a saying I always remembered: as a footballer, leave the football before the football leaves you. The football's left him. At the top level, he needs to call it a day."
Casemiro, who has been deployed as a makeshift centre-back lately, was one of the worst players on the pitch for Manchester United on Monday night.
While the Brazilian was immense in his first season with the Red Devils, his form has been going downhill over the course of the 2023/24 campaign.
