Real Madrid's 4-0 win costs former Madrid boss his job

Real Madrid enjoyed a convincing 4-0 win against Celta Vigo on Sunday to maintain their vice grip on the summit of La Liga.

But that defeat was the last straw for Celta as they fired manager Rafa Benitez barely 48 hours later.

Madridistas would remember Benitez. The Spanish tactician was coach at Real Madrid between July 2015 and January 2016 before Florentino Perez showed him the door.

Benitez has won the Champions League with Liverpool and La Liga twice with Valencia but couldn't win anything at Real Madrid during his six-month spell.

Benitez left Celta 17th in the league and two points from sinking into the relegation zone. They had won just two of their last nine games, losing six.
