The Athletic report that one of the reasons behind Chelsea parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino was his discontent with the squad.
The Argentine 'doubted the quality' of his two start midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
Advertisment
While publicly supportive of both, Poch 'privately questioned' whether his compatriot Enzo was good enough for the no. 6 and no. 8 roles. For Caicedo, he wasn't happy with his spatial awareness.
Overall, the former Chelsea boss thought that the duo didn't have enough 'size and power' to play together in the Premier League.
Poch's preferred midfield choice was Conor Gallagher and he was unhappy with Chelsea not giving the Englishman a new contract.
