Lionel Messi has shown he is 'not about money' by rejecting a lucrative offer from Al Hilal, ex-Barcelona Hristo Stoichkov insists.
The Blaugrana legend believes that by opting for MLS instead of Middle East, the Argentine has proven his priority is football.
"We didn’t play for money, we played for love. That shows greatness. I didn’t care about knowing my salary or bonuses, it was more important for me to play and for people to respect me.
"Agents take care of other things. Messi comes to compete and play and he doesn’t care about money because he loves football."
Messi joined Miami on a two-and-a-half-years deal and will get around 50 million dollars per year. He will once again wear the iconic no.10 jersey playing alongside Sergio Busquets.
They are both expected to make their debut v Cruz Azul this Friday, July 21.
