- Atletico knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League.
- Kieran Trippier knew they'd win the second game because of the amount of pressure the Reds applied.
- The La Liga side were hoping for Liverpool to slow down and it happened.
- An ugly win is still a win and the full-back is not bothered by that.
Liverpool lost to Atletico Madrid 3-2 at Anfield and, therefore, were eliminated from the Champions League. Kieran Trippier has shared thoughts on the game.
"We knew they would blow up because of the amount of pressure they'd applied and the amount of energy they'd put into the game," the 29-year-old said, as quoted by the Mirror.
"We knew they'd slow down. It took us over 100 minutes, but we won 3-2. Liverpool didn't put their chances away and we beat them in both legs. It worked and that's what football is about. As I've got older it has stopped bothering me."
Liverpool played a strong game of football overall and managed to overcome a one-goal deficit after the first leg in Spain, thanks to Gini Wijnaldum's header in the first half.
In extra time, Bobby Firmino scored the Reds' second which put Jurgen Klopp's closer to a victory, however, a goal by Marcos Llorente after a horrible mistake by Adrian turned things around.
The Spanish midfielder went on to collect a brace while Alvaro Morata ended the game with an effort of his own seconds before the final whistle.
