- The 21-year-old Bournemouth defender has recently been linked with Liverpool.
- Journalist Matt Addison says that the Reds were interested in him last season and it's very possible that they're still after him.
- Addison adds that Kelly can play as both a left-sided centre-back or as a left-back and he's the type of transfer that the Premier League winners need to make.
Liverpool journalist Matt Addison said on Liverpool Echo's Blood Red Podcast: “It certainly makes sense, doesn’t it [Lloyd Kelly to Liverpool]?
“The fact that Liverpool were interested last summer, it would make sense that they were still interested in him, despite the fact that he’s not played a great deal this season.
“It’s clear that a left-sided centre-back or left-back, and he can play in both positions, would be beneficial, I think for Liverpool going into next season to have a little bit more cover in both positions.
“I suppose it’s just a case of whether Liverpool still feel that he’s the best option that they can get, whether he would prove to be value for money.”
Kelly has not played much this season as he has only made 8 Premier League appearances as Bournemouth got relegated to the Championship. He is valued at £7.2M by Transfermarkt.
However, the 6'3" versatile defender could be a good bench option as the Reds need to sign a backup for Andy Robertson and a replacement for Dejan Lovren - Kelly fits the bill for both of these positions and at the age of 21, he sounds like a Jurgen Klopp signing.
