Los Blancos' defence might be quite vulnerable without the captain.
Sergio Ramos is most likely going to miss both Champions League games against Liverpool, and there couldn't be worse news for Real Madrid.
The 35-year-old is not only their captain but also their best centre-back - and Los Blancos' record without him in the competition is just horrific.
Spanish football journalist Colin Millar has listed Madrid's 10 last Champions League games without Ramos. Here they are:
- CSKA Moscow 1-0 Real Madrid
- Real Madrid 0-3 CSKA Moscow
- Real Madrid 1-4 Ajax
- PSG 3-0 Real Madrid
- Club Brugge 1-3 Real Madrid
- Man City 2-1 Real Madrid
- Real Madrid 2-3 Shakhtar
- Inter 0-2 Real Madrid
- Shakhtar 2-0 Real Madrid
- Atalanta 0-1 Real Madrid
As you can see, the Spanish powerhouse suffered 7 defeats in those 10 matches, with the likes of CSKA Moscow and Shakhtar able to score 3 goals against them.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are seemingly on the upward trajectory, winning the last two games against RB Leipzig and Wolves - although Real Madrid should be a harder opponent even without Ramos.
