In one of his first interviews as an England squad member, Kobbie Mainoo was asked to name the three most iconic Man United players for him.
One of the players he named had retired before Mainoo was born.
He told BBC: "I’d say (Wayne) Rooney, Paul Scholes as well. And King Eric (Cantona). It was a bit before my time, but I still appreciate it."
Interestingly, Mainoo left Cristiano Ronaldo out of his list. He was probably too young to remember the Portuguese star's first spell at Man United, but it was still after Cantona's time at the club.
Perhaps, Ronaldo is more associated with Real Madrid than Man United, especially after his second spell at Old Trafford ended rather ingloriously.
