Real Madrid have had quite a few back-up forwards in the last five years. Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Mariano Diaz, Joselu – who proved to be the most useful impact sub?
Stats show Joselu is easily the best one. With 13 goals in just 32 appearances, the striker finds the net every 120 minutes and already has as many assists as Luka Jovic in his three years at the club. Hazard beats Joselu in this respect, but the Belgian is generally a better playmaker than the Spaniard, of course.
Advertisment
Given that Joselu was brought back to the club for a cheap loan fee while the others were signed for tens of millions of euros, his impact makes him a standout player here.
Real Madrid reportedly plan to buy the 33-year-old out for a low fee in the summer.
