Jumping into unknown
Hello everyone, back on 23rd March 2020 it was the start of lockdown for the 1st of what turned out to be 3 times. A total unique and unknown lifestyle was about to begin. It was like being in jail but only allowed out for an hour is been good. Long queues for shopping, people doing best dearth Vader impressions as all wearing masks. Not being able to see family and friends, in fact the only thing we did know was it many families were going to loose loved ones.
Football v pandemic
For many people it was a disaster when football was stopped especially when we were so close to winning the league after 30 years and many fans were sent into panic mode about leagues being cancelled and becoming void. For some people including me it was a time to stay calm and not to panic. A thought that was to be proved right as football did indeed start up again but with 1 big exception, no fans to sing anthem or cheer on the team.
Maybe we should of realised and seen warning signs as we almost stumbled over the line as performances dipped. No parade was to follow but even worse was a season from hell as we now know with injuries. People calling for heads to be chopped off as.
Off field success
Now I know the football on the pitch may not be up too much to say the least, in fact many people maybe bald as tearing hair out or replacing things as been smashed but there are things to celebrate off the field starting from the boss himself. The letter in picture as personally written to a 5 year old boy who was sick in hospital. Now how many people would take the time in current situation to write it himself when team is struggling. In fact my young cousin had similar thing happen to him as missed his very first match ever as was in hospital. He is fine now but got to have picture with the boss and Hendo when finally did go.
Talking of Hendo it was our captain that led the charge for players to give a small amount of money to help the fight against this pandemic. Although not all players did which was just act of selfishness from my part. Should we of expected anything else from our great leader really. A model pro on and off the field and proud to say he is our captain
Two other successes are that we allowed vaccinations to take place in certain parts which some of said was too just get fans into stadiums but Liverpool being family club was to just help get families back together. Just recently this great club will be doing a study on what effects heading the ball does to long term health. Just another example of looking at ways to help players from long term health issues.
My final thoughts
Finally I want to share my thoughts, on 23rd March 2021 this country fell silent to remember what went on over this past year. I joined that and while silent I took time to remember those who lost there lives, these people won’t get the chance to discuss results, transfers, why lost matches, enjoy the wins and future world class stars that grace this team and even who needs to be sacked. All those passionate fans who lost there lives before we picked up trophy. While vaccinations are going well in this country lives won’t be back to total normality but as fans we can continue to sing and chant on behalf of all of them to take this club on to better things. I hope everyone enjoys there Easter the best they can and the boys do us all proud this weekend against Arsenal. I promise next blog will be more cheerful

David, a great counter-statement on current sporting events. It is the little things in times of the pandemic that are often forgotten next to sport. There is indeed a life after and beside football. Your blog doesn't make me sad, it just makes me thoughtful. Nevertheless, I will support the Lads with all my power against Arsenal on Saturday. 👋💪😅✌👊
Thanks Mel, that 2 minute silence definitely got me thinking and this took a while to try and word respectfully. I just thought people need to realise that it’s not just about results on the pitch but what’s done off it. Sometimes we take for granted things that others are less fortunate or now never get to see
This is true. Would have loved to feel the feelings of the people who left us, now Rebecca Welch, mate, never seen again.
Love what Klopp did to the young boy. Small things like that can mean so much. Little depressive blog but what you say is true.
