Is this man a striker worth considering??
With the extended loan deal for Ighalo, the Emergence and development of Greenwood into a first team regular, an improved-particularly in goals scored terms-Martial, not to mention the flexibility and quality of Rashford to play as a striker if needed, there is debate to whether we need to sign another striker at this time.
I think everyone agrees the right wing/attacking player is the no.1 priority in terms of signings, but what is next priority? Some say a Defensive holding midfielder. Another quality signing in this position would only make us stronger but with the revitalised Matic back to his best, a much improved Fred, the relentless Scott Mcsauce all capable of playing the role, not to mention a now fit Fosu Mensah and the emerging Garner is it a high priority still??
Plenty say another CB, yes a quality signing here would Also strengthen us but my take on this is we should stick with what we have in this department next season. Ole needs to workout if he has an ideal pairing at the club, Maquire, Bailly, Lindelof and Tuanzabe should all get good game time, with different pairings tried together to keep all 4 fresh and competing and building understandings in terms of partnerships.
Another centre Mid? I’d say if Pogba leaves then yes definitely get someone in, Van de Beek or Havertz. If Pogba doesn’t leave, for me, we still should make a striker our next priority, but a ready made striker, not a young up and coming lad, not a big money long term view signing such as Haaland, but an experienced player who is guaranteed to get those 20-30 goals in a season that all title winning sides have in their ranks. Someone for greenwood to learn even more from, someone to take pressure of Martial and ultimately replace Ighalo who very possibly won’t stay beyond January. I’d go for someone with premier league experience preferably, the no.1 option seems to be Aubameyang-who would be a great signing, but I don’t know if anyone has thrown this name in there previously, but the more I think about it, the more I think it’s just as good an option as Aubameyang . And that player is Danny Ings, just about to turn 28, in his prime and scoring for fun now his injuries seem to be behind him. It’s got to be worth an inquiry for his services ? Dip ya toe in Ole and test the waters at Southampton as well as Arsenal this summer Transfer window!!
