Captain Cesar Azpilicueta, the unsung hero of Chelsea FC
Captain Cesar Azpilicueta has been one among the old players who is still very much active and consistent in the starting eleven of Chelsea FC. Since his sign-up for Chelsea in 2012 from Marseille, he has been outstanding in manning his positions in the defence. His prowess and capabilities are so remarkable that we the fans, his teammates and I believe also the managers he has worked with, always feel safe around his territory in the field of play and have affectionately called him 'Dave'.
Azpilicueta is a versatile defensive player who can play in any positions at the back. He started playing for Chelsea as a right-back, then was soon played as a left-back and was also fielded as a central defender too. Just like we have seen him in play under Frank Lampard recently.
The Spanish player has played with the likes of Terry, Drogba and Frank Lampard, to mention but a few of great Chelsea players, and they have won trophies together.
Captain Cesar Azpilicueta is a gentle personality but very aggressive in play. He is a team player and leads by example to show the players what it means to wear the Chelsea badge. If you watch him in play, you always see the seriousness and the aggressiveness of never-say-die attitude, that winning mentality that always gives us an edge to win matches.
Despite the fact that he has played with his present manager, however, he has not for once allowed that to get into his head. Instead, he has proven to be dependable and has set the pace on the pitch for others to follow, making the job easier for Frank. No wonder Frank said, "Cesar Azpilicueta is an epitome of Chelsea..."
Cesar Azpilicueta, now 30, is arguably one of the most capped defensive players of recent after John Terry. He is always fit, not prone to injuries and has consistently served the club as an excellent defender.
Just like Captain John Terry and Frank Lampard, who steered the ship (Chelsea) out of the turbulent and troublesome waters (their rivals) and arriving victoriously (winning trophies), so also the veteran, Captain Cesar Azpilicueta has steered and steadied the ship out to safety in most recent times and is now heading to the shore to dock successfully again. In a few years to come, the Captain will soon hand over to a promising player who will be deemed the most capable of taking the wheel.
Below shows Cesar Azpilicueta's Premier League record:
Below shows his premier league playing career record from 2012 to date. This shows how dependable he is for Chelsea:
The Captain has done magnificently well for Chelsea. He indeed is truly the unsung hero of Chelsea FC. Glad to see Reece James has come in now and is really learning very fast from the formidable defensive warrior, a legend in the making. Hope the young academy youth lives up to the same expectations, replicating the remarkable form Cesar has shown us at Stamford Bridge in the near future. If not, definitely, we will miss a great defender.

A great player no doubt, worthy to wear the badge and deserved to be captain never complained about wages, never complained about wrong positioning just gets the job done, a Legend and a faithful servant of the club, much Respect
An unassuming and relentlessly forward looking and highly productive enigma. He has written his name in Gold in the annals of Chelsea's history. He is indeed qualified to be handed a figurative key to the Stanford Bridge.
He's pretty much a Chelsea legend, there's not too much arguing about that now
