The minimum target Barcelona have set for Xavi this season is to win the Copa Del Rey and qualify for the Champions League, per Diario AS.
The club's hierarchy doesn't believe Barca can win La Liga and the Champions League this season. However, the Copa Del Rey is a more realistic target. If Xavi fails to win it his future could be up in the air.
However, Xavi's team are also expected to compete well in the other two competitions regardless of what the eventual outcome is. But the gaffer's future won't be determined by the outcome of those competitions.
Real Madrid are already out of the Copa Del Rey which leaves Atletico Madrid as Barca's most potent rival in the competition. But the Blaugrana must first overcome Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-final later today, January 24.
Barcelona are expected to beat Napoli in the Champions League round of 16 and progress to the quarter-final. In La Liga, they are seven points behind Real Madrid and eight behind Girona.
There are uncertainties about how many trophies Barca could win this season, if any. Yet, if Barca's key players can step up their game it's hard to imagine they finish the season with an empty trophy cabinet.
