Xabi Alonso achieved the monumental task of helping Bayer Leverkusen go UNBEATEN in the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign and win the title over Bayern Munich.
The Spaniard is now en route to help the German side do a treble. Bayer will face Atalanta in the Europa League final and are also playing in the DFB Pokal final.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been hugely impressed with what he’s seen from Alonso.
Perez is totally convinced and has ‘full faith’ in Alonso’s ability to be an ideal Real Madrid manager one day.
Alonso has already confirmed that he will remain as Bayer Leverkusen boss for the 2024/25 season. However, there could be a battle for his services in 2025.
Carlo Ancelotti’s contract as Real Madrid boss expires in 2026. Hence if the Italian gaffer is unable to help Los Blancos win major titles next season, then Perez could look to bring in Alonso as his replacement in 2025.
