"PSG have adopted the infamous 'give the ball to Messi and hope' game plan, I see," Barca fan Neal tweets.
In Marco Verratti's absence, Leo Messi was doing even more work than usual on the pitch, covering plenty of distance and making more than 80 touches.
At first, this 'game plan' did not seem to be working well. However, it ended with Messi scoring a great goal and providing 7 (!) key passes which is truly impressive.
After the game (PSG beat Toulouse 2-1), the Parisians' head coach Christophe Galtier said, per L'Equipe: "I ask the team to play and work for Messi. He has to be exempt from certain tasks and his teammates must double their efforts to recover and create movement, so that he can distribute passes."
For me personally, it seems like an indirect way of convincing Leo to sign a new deal with PSG. This is like a message: "Look, we can make you the team's biggest star even despite Mbappe's presence."
Anyway, it will be interesting to watch how their style of play changes while both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar are injured.
