Groundhog Day
So, I'm feeling a bit like Bill Murray stuck in a never ending loop. Now that I've said this I've realised that the title and Bill Murray are probably lost on anyone below the age of 30. Google it would be my advice!
I don't even have an opinion on this, it's just an observation and one with which I'm as guilty as anyone of blabbering on about without ever thinking of using some basic history before I engage that hole in my face. But so are FSG, and every other fan.
Every summer, and I mean every one for the last few years, our brilliantly knowledgeable fanbase collectively identifies areas in need of strengthening. And credit where its due, we all tend to get it reasonably right.
2 summers ago we could all see with Lovren leaving that we needed a decent CB as cover, my word were we proven to be right!
Same again last year, the difference being we actually went and got our targets, but again this season, it's become clear a MF is needed, the world and her mother knew, and could clearly see we were going to be in need of cover there.
We've also learned a lot about our owners and how they operate. And taking what I've said about transfers and considering how well we know how our club functions, both us as fans, and FSG as owners, keep doing the same things over and over again and end up with the same results. Some would say it's the definition of insanity! Either way, we're all guilty of it every single summer.
Surely LFC have taken the lessons of the 20/21 season and realised that sometimes you can't wait around for that one perfect player for a particular role! I say LFC, and not FSG as Edwards often stated that he was left alone to run the club with almost no interference from the ownership, and Ward has been afforded the same.
I think it's been obvious since the end of last season that a midfielder, a RB and then a forward were needed.
We didn't realise we needed the forward until we knew Sadio was leaving, but we went and got Nunez, we brought in Ramsey to give Trent something to think about too.
What we didn't do is strengthen the MF. That's not what Carvalho was brought in for, Jones isn't anywhere near where we'd need him to be, and the rest are aging. It needs addressing surely!
That being said, us fans are as guilty of making the same mistakes repeatedly too. Firstly, many of us completely lose our shit every single transfer window. Personally, I'm not one of them, although I will admit to getting quite frustrated about how we do business.
But then I remind myself of 2 things. Firstly, LFC has a structure, and a way of going about her business. It's the very same business structure that has raised us to the level we are at, and it's been in place for going on 12 seasons now. Why try and convince yourself that it's gonna change all of a sudden and that the club is gonna be left behind?
Secondly, as long as FSG has been owners, when the club says something in regards to her business and transfers, they say exactly what they mean! So when LFC/Klopp says our business is done, well it's most likely done.
No amount of shouting and giving out about it will change that. Yep, it's really fucking annoying but it's also just how it is. It's very hard to argue with how LFC operates when you look where we are.
Anyway, as I said at the beginning, it's more of an observation rather than an opinion. As you can probably see, I've said loads without actually saying anything, just thinking out loud I suppose 🤷🏻♂️
I just wonder when will I or any of us ever learn, or is it just part of being a fan. We always want what's best for our club, and we throw all reason out the window, yet the club makes it worse and perpetuates it by not doing the business we all want done, then can't understand why us fans are getting anxious.
And we'll do it all again in January and every transfer window from now to eternity 🤣

You should be a fulltime writer. You get it out black on white what other might think. Brilliant 👏. I'm one of those who are extremely frustrated and I often think the business done is quite shite. It often feels like stuff gets done but not really the whole way. Feels like a 10,000 meter runner in the Olympics when he's leading the race but takes a piss last lap and ends second. Well it's early and I think the boys were fucking great last night so I'm quite positive from that
🤣🤣🤣🤣Brilliant analogy 👏👏👏
Well said Dave. I believe most of us fans observed what you did. But it always FSG/Klopp leading and running the show. It is part of the fun/frustration of every season and we all live it through till the end. Sometimes it is up high and some other times it’s deep low. And we always say: Keep going. We fans are not decision changers, we are just observers and dreamers that our beloved club win each and every title. Conclusion is: we will live this melodrama for as long as FSG/KLOPP are driving the boat.
If I’m honest I was jumping through hoops with the business being done early. Then your fellow admin suggested we need a midfielder and those hoops turned into mountains that full of ice and keep slipping at the bottom, so yes very frustrating but I’m sure come January or summer we will need players for all parts again. I do agree though that maybe we should get players rather than wait. The only good thing we only got 3 weeks then we can all relax
😄😄😄😄😄😄😄sorry for that David 🤐
