- The La Liga side had received a penalty early in the game, which Dmitrovic stepped up to take and duly converted with a great finish.
- The last time a goalkeeper in La Liga scored was when Dani Aranzubia got on the scoresheet for Deportivo La Coruna against Getafe in 2011.
- Unfortunately for Dmitrovic, his heroics went in vain as Atletico won the game 2-1 – ironically thanks to a late penalty from Luis Suarez.
