Andrea Pirlo sends a warning to Cristiano Ronaldo after his dangerous behaviour during free-kick

Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to be involved in freekick defensive duties for Juventus following his defensive mistake in Juventus' win against Parma.

As part of Juve wall facing a Parma freekick, Ronaldo covered his face and ducked to allow Gaston Brugman to give his side the lead in the encounter with a well-taken shot.

Ronaldo's embarrassing antics in Juve's wall will now be evaluated, according to Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo: "Unfortunately these things happen, we will evaluate what to do in the next matches and whether to put him in the wall."

Alex Sandro scored twice while Matthijs de Ligt headed home Juan Cuadrado's cross to seal a 3-1 win for the Old Lady and save Ronaldo some blushes.

However, Ronaldo made a similar mistake in Juve Champions League exit against Porto last month when Sergio Oliveira's low free-kick went through Ronaldo's leg and in.

Juventus' 3-1 win over Parma might not look like anything special to the casual observer, were it not for one thing: Cristiano Ronaldo strange role in Parma's opener.

With the score still at 0-0, Parma were awarded a free-kick just outside the penalty area on 25 minutes. Gaston Brugman's effort went over the wall and into the top corner - and Ronaldo was culpable that it did.

The Portuguese was part of the wall and didn't even bother to jump. Furthermore, he just covered his face with his hand to prevent the ball from hitting him there. Fans around the world were left stunned at this.

Certainly not a moment Ronaldo should be proud of. It's good that Juventus ran out comfortable winners in the end, otherwise we are sure this episode would have got much more attention.

'Remember: they signed a contract'. Florentino Perez reveals what will happen to Super League in new interview

Following the withdrawal of 9 out of 12 European Super League clubs, Florentino Perez gave an interview discussing the future of the project.

"The Super League project is now in stand-by, I can confirm," he told radio station El Larguero.

"Juventus and AC Milan have not left the Super League. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan are still in talks to find solutions.

"If this project didn't work, another one will. Remember: all the 12 clubs have signed a binding contract.

"I am a bit sad, disappointed. We have been working three years on this project, on fighting the current financial situation in Spanish football. It is easy to understand - you cannot touch La Liga, so you look for more money midweek and UCL format is obsolete.

"I have never seen aggression greater on the part of the president of UEFA and other presidents of Liga, it was orchestrated, it surprised it all. Never seen anything like it - insults, threats, as if we had killed someone, killed football."

With major backlash from across the board, the European Super League will is no longer an imminent reality but the consequences of the supposed contracts signed by the breakaway clubs will only be apparent over time.
