‘Absolute disgrace’. Man United players criticized for their reaction after losing Europa League final

Manchester United were sensationally beaten by Villarreal in the 2020/21 Europa League final on Wednesday night.

As Red Devils drew the Yellow Submarine 1-1 after extra-time, both sides went on to decide the winner in the penalty shoot-out.

It was David de Gea who failed to find the back of Geronimo Rulli's net and thus confirmed United's fourth consecutive trophyless season.

The fact that the Premier League runners-up lost to the team that finished seventh in La Liga this term is itself an utter embarrassment but football fans on Twitter have also slammed United players for their post-match reaction.

The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe and Aaron Wan-Bissaka instantly took their EL runners-up medals off from around their necks during the award ceremony risking the wrath of United and neutral fans.

@IrishinLondon via Twitter: "Absolute disgrace to remove those medals. That is not sportsmanship. A disgrace to their club!"

@11JTH via Twitter: "United youngsters taking off their Losers Medals while walking off from the presentation! Egos bigger than their abilities! Poor attitude!"

@pokkai4 via Twitter: "Shame to these Manchester United fucking players. No sportsmanship at all for them to take off the medals."

@salsinthecity via Twitter: "Anyone talking about Man U players taking their medals off on the podium like the petulant brats they are? Shameful behaviour."

@SpacesSteve via Twitter: "Truly shocking bad sportsmanship, Man U players except for Matic and, couple of others taking their Losers medals off at the end. Poor and a bad example to kids everywhere."
