There are people who know that Leo Messi is the best player on Earth and then there are also some Man United and Real Madrid fans who managed to convince themselves that Cristiano Ronaldo can be compared with the Argentine or is even better than him.
And then there are some journalists who can't even admit that they've changed their opinion on this non-question after talking with one of the subjects personally, like Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan.
Piers has recently interviewed Ronaldo, becoming an avid fan. During the most recent international break, Morgan has even tweeted that Cristiano is 'indisputably the GOAT' on international level after the Portuguese put four past Lithuania, adding that he would take Ronaldo over Messi every week.
However, the Internet remembers everything, so the 54-year-old was instantly ridiculed for saying the exact opposite back in 2012.
Following the pushback, instead of simply admitting that he has changed his opinion on the question, Morgan proceeded to delete his old tweet about Messi (as if everyone didn't have the screenshots by that point) which only led to more mocking and ridicule on Twitter.
The moral of the story is simple: 1) Twitter will dig up everything, 2) bootlicking only gets you that far.
