Mundo Deportivo published the second part of Eric Abidal's infamous interview this Saturday. The sporting director sheds light on Luis Suarez's future amid his long-term injury layoff.
When asked whether Suarez's injury may negatively affect his contract talks with Barcelona, Abidal replied: "No, first you have to have respect, for the players for what they are giving, what they gave and what they will give for the club."
However, Abidal couldn't confirm the sides are going to resume talks in the near future.
He added: "Now he is injured, hopefully, he will recover well and from there, we’ll just talk. If we as a club see it well, of course, we will enter into negotiations and he will also have to tell us how he feels because in the end, it is respect for the club and for the team."

As a reminder, Luis Suarez will miss four months with a knee injury. He had surgery on January 12. Before that, he was reportedly forced to take painkillers to play.
Suarez's injury is a huge blow for the club. The Uruguayan was one of the leading scorers and assist providers. He scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists before surgery.
Suarez has just turned 33 years old. His current deal with Barcelona expires in June 2021. He hasn't signed a new contract since December 2016.
