Injury crisis strikes Barca B as well – Hiroki Abe's season said to be over

Upd. 19:00 CET: Hiroki Abe will officially miss five months following successful surgery on his right hamstring.

Barcelona B prospect Hiroki Abe will reportedly miss the rest of the season through a torn hamstring.

The 21-year-old picked the injury up in the game against AE Prat on February 2.

Abe had to go off already in the 14th minute:

The Japanese is said to undergo surgery on Tuesday. It is claimed that he will be operated on in Finland – in the same clinics as Ousmane Dembele.

Given that Abe is out until the end of the season, there are only four attackers left at Barcelona B: Matheus Pereira, Kike Saverio, Alex Collado and Rey Manaj. The latter two players often train with the first team these days.

Abe's setback may well influence the board's decision to sign an attacker outside the transfer window. Obviously, relying on two attacking players isn't good given that Barcelona B are looking to secure promotion to the Segunda Division A.

Hiroki Abe arrived at Barcelona in the summer. The skilful Japanese has scored 4 goals in 20 appearances for the second team this season.
