Calciomercato: Barca jump ahead of Man City in the race for Joao Cancelo

According to multiple sources in Italy, Barca already know whom they should move for in case of Nelson Semedo departure. Apparently, they will go after Juventus right-back Joao Cancelo.

And, Calciomercato have claimed on Sunday that the Catalans are now the favourites to complete the move ahead of Pep Guardiola's Man City despite the player allegedly agreeing the personal terms with the Citizens.

City and Juventus have reportedly failed to agree on the transfer because the Premier League champions wanted to include Danilo in the deal, contrary to Juve's cash only demand.

However, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici still wants to sell the Portuguese's defender as the Turin club are trying to raise money to seal Matthias de Ligt's signing from Ajax.

As for Cancelo, the right-back had his breakthrough this season in Italy becoming a key player for the Old Lady who paid €40m for the Portuguese.

Joao has all the qualities to become a world-class player. Ex-Juventus full-back Cabrini, for example, believes that Cancelo is already one of the best players in the world on his position:

"Among other things, he can interpret many roles. Fullback, pure winger and why not even a midfielder. He gives the impression of being able to do a lot, almost everything," Cabrini said when discussing the Portuguese's rapid rise. During the 2018/19 campaign, Cancelo played 34 games for Juves scoring one and assisting five goals.
