Iniesta explains why there will be no 'next Iniesta'

In his most recent interview with Marca, Andres Iniesta has given his opinion on the recent 'tradition' among journalist and fans to label any Barca midfielder who shows some talent the 'next Iniesta'.

Iniesta himself reckons that this isn't a very good idea since other players have enough individual quality by themselves and shouldn't be nicknamed after the legends of old.

“There will not be another Iniesta just like there will not be a player who is the same as another,” he said.

“My idols were Pep Guardiola and Michael Laudrup, but I never got to become just like them. I made my own path, and I am who I am. The players with those qualities will make history. We are all different. The important thing is that everyone has the capacity to develop what one has.”Both Frenkie de Jong and Arthur have been previously compared with Andres, but they both already have a reputation of their own and no longer need to be labelled 'next Iniesta' to get recognition.

Frenkie and Arthur are regulars for Barca this season. De Jong has made 13 appearances for Barcelona since his arrival. He hasn't missed a single match. The Dutchman scored and provided his debut Barca assist in the 5-2 Valencia win.

As for Arthur, so far this season, he has only missed four games out of 13. The 23-year-old has scored two goals and provided four assists. His recent moment of magic arrived against Slavia when he assisted on Leo Messi's opener.

No matter what is being said but de Jong has SOME similarity to Iniesta, doesn't he? Check out Frenkie's profile to compare:
