Tuchel admits he understands why PSG fans are furious with Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain have started their 2019/2020 Ligue 1 season without Neymar. The Brazilian was excluded from their squad for the league opener as his future is still resolving. The Parisians clearly didn't miss him much as they beat Nimes at home 3-0 thanks to the goals from Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Angel di Maria.

The fans, however, have made themselves heard. There have been several offensive chants and banners spotted at the Parc des Princes stadium. For example, the ultras called the Brazilian 'son of the b*tch', advised him to get lost and even described him as 'the most disgusting player in PSG history'.

PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel sensationally accepts the fans' tantrum. That's what he tells Goal after the game: "It's a little difficult, I don't know what to say. I saw [the public's reaction on Neymar] on my colleagues' phones because I hadn't heard that during the game."

Tuchel continues: "Can I understand that? Yes and no, that's the way it is in our lives. The emotions are serious, the emotions are still there, okay. But on the other hand, Neymar is still our player, still my player, and I will always protect my players. He's in the locker room, he's here and I'll protect him.

The German specialist finishes up: "I can understand that not everyone likes what he said and what he did. I understand, but we have to express a level to express our emotion."

Tuchel is unable to provide any updates on Neymar's future amid heavy links with both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
