Morgan Schneiderlin decided to compare himself with one of the football greats in the recent interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, as he bemoaned the shortness of his spell at Manchester United.
"Look at [Sergio] Busquets at Barcelona," the midfielder who now plays for Everton said. "I don't compare myself to him but tell me the passes he does that I don't? Because they win games, everyone says he's the the cleverest midfielder in football."
Schneiderlin moved to Man United in a £22m deal from Southampton in 2015. The Frenchman only managed 47 appearances between 2015 and 2017 before being sold by Jose Mourinho and he now regrets it.
"I wanted to do more and I had the capacity to do more," Schneiderlin said about his Old Trafford spell. "Maybe I jumped out of the boat too quickly when I didn't play for three months.
"When I look at other players having a great career at Manchester United, they all had a spell of four or five months when they didn't play."
As for Busquets, he remains a starter for Barcelona as a lone pivot and averages 90% passing accuracy, completing 65.5 passes per game on average. The midfielder has also registered two assists since the start of the season.
