Valverde names reasons behind another 'complicated' game for Griezmann

Speaking in a post-match interview, Ernesto Valverde has defended Antoine Griezmann despite another worrying performance away from home.

"I think he did well.

"It was a complicated game for him because he faced his former teammates.

"He has fought. He had a very clear chance, maybe he should have controlled the ball…"

By the 'clear chance', the coach supposedly means the episode when the MSG trio had a very promising counter which ended in Griezmann's volley that came wide.

Both teams had enough chances to open the scoring, however, there was a goalless draw until the 86th minute when Leo Messi received the ball after a one-touch pass from Suarez and fired home.
