Diario Sport provide an interesting update on Barcelona's center-back dilemma. They claim the club have solved this challenging problem with Clement Lenglet emerging to be the key winner.
The Catalans are expected to bet on Lenglet instead of his fellow countryman Samuel Umtiti. The former Lyon man could be put on the market while Clement is dubbed as Barca's 'key player for the future'.
Sport add that Barcelona consider offering Lenglet a new deal. His current one expires in 2023.
Still, Sport believe Barca would still sign a new center-back to provide Lenglet with the needed competition. They confirm the club's interest in Villarreal's Pau Torres.
As a reminder, Umtiti has recently been heavily linked with the Barcelona exit. Last week, Diario Sport claimed that the Frenchman could be put on the market in summer with several Premier League giants, including Manchester United and Arsenal, reportedly interested.
This term, Umtiti has made 16 appearances in all competitions. He has been struggling with numerous health issues. Last season, he only featured in 15 matches because of the neverending knee injury.
As for Lenglet, he has made 29 appearances this season and scored three goals. He joined Barca from Sevilla when the Catalans triggered €35.9m release clause in July 2018.
