Marc Bartra on Leo Messi: 'It's a pleasure to have played with the best player in the history of football'

Marc Bartra came through the ranks of the La Masia academy. However, like many other homegrown players, the defender was forced to leave Barcelona to get more playing time.

Bartra recalled his days as a Blaugrana while talking to WhoScored this Monday.

The defender opened up on having Leo Messi as his teammate. He added: "It's a pleasure to have played with Leo for so many years, he is the best player in the history of football. I learned a lot while training and playing with him."

He also confessed how much his years at La Masia taught him: "At Barca, having the ball at your feet and technique is worked on a lot from childhood. Going through all the lower age groups of Barca has given me a platform to grow in football and to improve my skills."

Bartra left Barcelona for Borussia Dortmund in 2016. He is currently at Real Betis.

The centre-back scored six goals in 103 appearances for the Catalan giants. He won a lot of trophies at Barca, including two Champions League triumphs.

Here are all six goals Bartra scored for Barca:

Bartra has scored 4 goals in 88 matches for Betis since his transfer in January 2018. He's faced his former side four times and claimed the surprise 4-3 away win on November 11, 2018.
