Dani Alves was the core of Barcelona's side between 2008 and 2016. However, he was forced to leave the club as soon as his contract expired in 2016.
The Brazilian has hit out at the club's board for allowing him to leave while also defending his decision.
Marca quote the right-back as saying: "The Barcelona directors were totally wrong and ungrateful. They didn’t respect me. They only offered to renew by contract when FIFA banned them [from signing players]. Leaving Barcelona for free was a class act."
Alves was referring to FIFA's infamous decision to ban Barcelona from signing new players for two transfer windows in 2015 as the punishment for the irregularities in the international transfers of minors.
Alves spent eight years at Barcelona, between 2008 and 2016. He scored 21 goals in 391 appearances for the Catalan giants. During his Blaugrana tenure, the iconic defender won 23 trophies.
Alves played for Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Barca. He is currently at Sao Paulo.

By the way, since Alves' exit in 2016, the Catalans haven't managed to find a proper right-back yet. Nelson Semedo arrived in 2017 but hasn't managed to fully replace the Brazilian ace.
