Lyon’s Brazilian star Bruno Guimaraes has attracted interest from Barcelona, Diario AS report.
The midfielder, who joined the French side during the January transfer window, has already impressed with his performances for Lyon.
Before debuting in Europe in 2020, the 22-year-old made himself a name in South America, making his breakthrough during his two-year stint at Athletico Paranaense. Guimaraes won Copa Sudamericana and a Copa do Brasil title while playing for the Curitiba-based outfit.
Another side interested in the central midfielder is Diego Simeone's Atletico, who has been following Guimaraes for several years and tried to sign him in January, albeit to no avail.
The Brazilian's debut month at Lyon was nothing short of triumphant as he was named the Man of the Match in his first three games for the Ligue 1 side. The midfielder's best performance to date came against Juventus when his team shockingly defeated the Italian Champions 1-0 at home.
Guimaraes was also on the verge of making his first appearance for Brazil's national team when football put on halt in March because of the coronavirus crisis.
On the downside, the midfielder joined Lyon on a four-and-half year contract for a fee of €20m. And it's very unlikely that the French side will easily let go of their prized asset after signing him half a year ago.
Lyon also made a very big deal of the signing with their director of football Juninho Pernambucano promising to transform Guimaraes into the “best midfielder in the world”.
