Second coronavirus test, isolation from squad: how Barca plan to punish Nelson Semedo for breaching lockdown rules

According to highly reliable CatRadio, Barcelona are going to take Nelson Semedo's recent incident in their hands.

  • First of all, the Catalans want the Portuguese defender to have a second coronavirus test after breaching the lockdown rules.
  • Secondly, the player will be kept in isolation from the rest of the squad until they receive the result of the test.
  • As a result, Semedo hasn't been training with the group this Thursday, the club have just confirmed.

Cadena COPE add that Semedo feels very sorry for his actions.

As a reminder, Semedo was pictured at a restaurant in Barcelona on Monday, June 8. The Portuguese was there to celebrate the birthday of his friend who is said to be a tattooist.

As footage shows, only one of the invited guests is wearing some kind of protection, while the social distancing rules aren't respected at all.

It's now highly unlikely for Semedo to play against Mallorca away as the game is scheduled for Saturday, June 13. Sergi Roberto may take his place at the right-back.

This season, Semedo has recorded five assists in 29 games. He has been used both as a right-back (25 games) and as a left-back (4).

During the last two months, Semedo has been heavily linked with a potential exit. Manchester City, Inter and Juventus are reportedly interested in his services. He could enter the Lautaro Martinez operation as well.
