Potential date and venue for Barcelona-Napoli second leg leaked

RAC1 have just claimed that Barcelona could possibly face Napoli for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie on Sunday, August 9.

This match would be played at the Camp Nou stadium. Moreover, there is a strong possibility that the venue could be partly open to the fans.

Nothing has been confirmed, though.

Previously, it's been reported that the remaining fixtures of the Champions League round of 16 would be played in Portugal, either in Porto or Guimaraes.

As a reminder, the 2019-2020 Champions League will be played as a single-leg knockout tournament, UEFA confirmed last week.

The final of the new format of the competition is scheduled for August 23. All matches will be played at the neutral venues in Portugal.

The second leg of the Barcelona-Napoli tie was originally scheduled for March 18. Eventually, it was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The first leg between Barcelona and Napoli ended with a 1-1 draw. Antoine Griezmann cancelled out Dries Mertens' opener.

Interestingly, both Quique Setien and Napoli's president Aurelio De Laurentiis have publicly stated they would like the Barca-Napoli game to be played at the Camp Nou stadium rather than at a neutral venue.

The Barca coach explained his view: "It would be unfair for us to play Napoli at neutral turf, seeing as we already faced them at their home ground at the San Paolo."
