'Utopian': Inter CEO Marotta distances himself from Leo Messi transfer rumours

"No Italian club can complete a transfer operation like that without the owners making a big contribution," Inter CEO Beppe Marotta told Sky Sport Italia when asked on Leo Messi's potential arrival.

"So, with the Financial Fair Play regulations as they are, we have to be sustainable," he added.

Marotta concluded: "We're talking about an icon. Thinking that today Inter can get such a player is utopian."

The Messi-to-Inter rumours have intensified lately after the father of the Blaugrana star reportedly purchased a house in Milan last week.

However, Sky Sports Italia explained later that Leo's father moved to Italy for financial reasons.
