David Villa vs Lionel Messi: What happened between the Barcelona stars when they rowed during La Liga match

We rarely see Leo Messi lose his temper with Barca teammates.

However, there was at least one occasion on which it actually happened. In 2012, when Barca were taking on Granada in La Liga, Messi got really frustrated with David Villa who failed to create a scoring chance.

Messi found the space, signalled to the striker but the latter was too late when attempting to pass the ball to the Argentine.

Interestingly, Villa was subbed off for Pedro already in the 53rd minute of the game before Barca found the net twice.

"Do not look for problems where there are none. Villa and I get along very well, it was just normal banter during games," Leo Messi told the media after the game, as per The 42.

It should have been over before it even began: The story behind David Villa's injury that almost resulted in leg amputation

Former Barcelona striker David Villa won every possible major trophy during his glorious career, including the La Liga, the Champions League, the World Cup and the European Championship.

The Tuilla-born forward's path in football, however, could've ended when he only was four.

Villa suffered a severe injury when a much older kid fell on his leg prompting fears of David's right leg amputation back then.

Thankfully, the Spaniard escaped the worst and with the help of his father Jose Manuel, he managed to become a two-footed player.

“When I came home from the mine we always spent two hours together. I would pass the ball to him and he would kick it with his left foot,” Villa's dad said in 2010, as quoted by The Sun.

“I think for that reason he is now equally good with both feet.”

Even though Villa had to wear plaster for six months after the incident, he continued to train using his left foot.

“My dad would be there throwing me the ball over and over, making me kick it with my left leg when my right was in plaster after breaking it,” David added.

“I can barely remember a single training session when my dad wasn’t there. I have never been alone on a football pitch."

David Villa's Barca contract had 'anti-racism clause' – first ever in world football

Combating racism has been an important part of football these days, but the first efforts to systematise these efforts started more than 10 years ago.

In 2010, as revealed by anti-racism charity Kick It Out, David Villa agreed on an 'anti-racism clause' after signing his Barca contract.

"The player will not express or carry out, in any form, discriminatory ideas or acts, either during football games or in any club duties. The club will strongly condemn any discriminatory or racist act according to the agreement," that clause reportedly read.

Later on, Barca president Joan Laporta confirmed it.

"It is the first time that a contract has been signed with an anti-racism clause included as introduced by the European Club Association, from now on we will include it in all new contracts."
