Mingueza: 'I'm very glad Koeman renewed. He's helped me a lot'

"In the sports aspect, it has been the best year of my life. I am very grateful to everyone who has trusted me," Oscar Mingueza told RAC1 after making his senior debut for Spain in a 4-0 friendly win over Lithuania on Tuesday.

"I'm in the first team right now and I guess I'm going to do the pre-season, I'll see what happens. I hope I can be with Barcelona all year and help as much as possible.

"Koeman has been a coach who has helped me a lot. He made me videos with tactical, technical corrections. I am very glad he renewed."

The La Masia graduate made his first-team debut for Barcelona in the Champions League clash with Dynamo Kyiv in November. The 22-year-old has gone on to make 38 appearances for Koeman's men across all competitions in the 2020/21 campaign.

Oscar Mingueza included in Spain's 'parallel bubble' for Euro 2020 as another player tests positive for Covid

Oscar Mingueza and the other ten U21 players who featured in Spain's 4-0 friendly win over Lithuania have been included in La Furia Roja's 'parallel bubble' due to the Covid-19 situation in the team.

After Sergio Busquets tested positive for coronavirus over the weekend, Luis Enrique called up Kepa Arrizabalaga, Rodrigo Moreno, Pablo Fornals, Carlos Soler, Brais Mendez and Raul Albiol to train separately from the main group as potential replacements.

Leeds United's Diego Llorente has tested positive for Covid since then and thus Mingueza and Co. will train with the 17-man parallel bubble on Wednesday.

Enrique has time until Saturday to make final adjustments to his 24-man squad for the forthcoming tournament.

Diego Llorente becomes 2nd Spain player after Busquets to test positive for Covid ahead of Euro 2020

Leeds United's Diego Llorente has become the second Spain player to test positive for Covid-19 ahead of the forthcoming European Championship, the Spanish FA (RFEF) confirmed on Tuesday.

La Furia Roja's captain Sergio Busquets, for his part, contracted the virus just three days ago. Both players have been put into isolation and are yet to be withdrawn from Spain's squad for the tournament.

No other member of Luis Enrique's set-up had tested positive, the RFEF said.

Spain are set to kick off their Euro 2020 path in a home encounter with Sweden on Monday, June 14.

What Busquets' Covid situation means for Spain: explained

On Sunday, it was officially confirmed that Sergio Busquets had contracted Covid-19.

The Barca player left the national team in an ambulance and went home to self-isolate despite showing no symptoms, according to Mundo Deportivo.

5 other Spanish players are said to be self-isolating. They train individually.

On Tuesday, Lithuania will take on Spain U21 instead of Luis Enrique's side in a friendly game.

On Thursday and Friday, Busquets will take the PCR tests to find out whether he'll be able to play at Euro 2020.

Of course, the test results of those training individually matter too. If something goes wrong, Luis Enrique may be forced to replace the Covid-infected players before the tournament kicks off.
