The figure sounds crazy – is it really true?
Well, firstly, no verified or credible source has proven this.
Secondly, PSG haven't ever sold 250,000 shirts in a single year – their absolute highest figure is 226,000 items.
The day after Neymar's move was announced, PSG sold 10,000 shirts – and it was a very successful result for the club.
Thus, the more or less real figure of Messi's shirt sales is 20,000 items overnight.
It is theoretically unreal for the club to market 250,000 shirts in 60 minutes as in the first days after the transfer announcement, they're only sold by the club itself – there are no Messi shirts available in Nike stores yet.
