Riqui Puig reportedly refuses to go on loan, chooses to stay and fight his way into Koeman's team

 is adamant about leaving the club on loan this summer, according to TV3. 

The Spaniard feels he enjoyed a good preseason with Barca and has a chance of working his way into reckoning in

Why would he be forgotten? He’s a gem, a great player, we always hear that.

Well there have been many la Masia gems recently who were considered the same , sent on loan and then forgotten , for example , monchu was forgotten when Moriba showed up , Miranda was forgotten when Cucurella showed who in turn is about to get forgotten with Balde showing up , not just la masia players but young players bought in like Trincao is almost forgotten since we have Demir and many more are in the list , there are many that I myself would have forgotten . 


Earlier we had big names in different positions so it was quite logical to go on loan and develope but now with revolution going on at Barca with trusting in young players it's simply no brainer to go on loan . Opportunity now is more than ever and Puig should fight for his place in the first team .

If you go on loan and you perform at a high level CONSISTENTLY, the club would not forget you and I always say it comes down to is a coach believes in you and trust you. 
If you’re “that good” you’ll make it almost anywhere.

If you had said me this like 2 years ago , I would have believed it but with recent experiences , I believe it isn't as easy as it seems . 


I have more examples for you which I realised after thinking for a while , Munir , his loan spells were too good but having to compete with one of the greatest ST of all time nobody took notice of his talent and is simply now forgotten , Rafinha ( though jad some injury issues too ) had very great loan spells and really wanted to breakthrough with the first team but didn't got any real chances and is now faded in memories of Barca , Carles Perez he was like a Messiah for a while in start of 19/20 season but a new coach came with same attitude as Koeman , not in his plans , he was sent on loan , had a great spell at actually quite a good club and now he is completely off radar of Barca , and again another La Masia great Jordi Masip , he has just extraordinary spell at Valladolid , what a great goalkeeper who sometimes Single-handedly caries Valladolid but no one cares , no one remembers him , nobody takes him seriously , why ? because he saves for Valladolid whom no one watches , if he did the same thing at Barca his value would be something else . 


There is difference of skies and land in doing exactly the same thing at Barca compared to any other club . It's more valuable if you do it at Barca . At Barca situation is different from other clubs , others might be a defensive side , you dont get much chance to find the back of nets at other clubs compared to Barca . Cucurella and Alena changed a lot after their spell at Getafe , they adapted a bit dirty style of play which is a typical Getafe style and exactly not the way which will be entertained at Barca . 


Compared to any of the players I mentioned , it's better to do what Roberto did , stay no matter what . Roberto waited at Barca for his chance to come and when it came 2 seasons later than his proper breakthrough he is the 4th Captain of the club . Rafinha was actually a better one than him at every sense but we all can see how things stand now , who is enjoying more . 


If you think it's all about the coach who puts trust , then you are simply giving too much importance to coach in a personal players career . Puig wants to play for Barca not for Koeman . A coach can say no to a signing because it might be not the player of the new coaches style , it's understandable , but for a player who has spent his childhood in Barca way is now said is no longer part of the plan , then one must simply ignore it and wait for your time here itself because its a big doubt if that plan itself belongs to clubs way if their own product doesn't suit it .

All those players you mentioned outside of the Getafe players are not starters or not even being used much for their respective teams. My thinking is if you’re. Not even a factor in those smaller teams what are really doin at a big team as Barcelona? Growing up with throughout Barcelona ranks doesn’t automatically mean your worthy of success in the first team. 
If you’re that good one of the big teams in Europe MUST come after you it’s that simple. You feel you can compare Matip to Ter Stegen? 🤣. Over recent years especially under Bartomeu there were a lot of players that shouldn’t be in a Barcelona jersey in the first place. 

You said I’m putting too much importance into a coach. I said all along a coach trust is all that matters especially for a young player and it’s a coaches trust that Puig is yearning for. He’s not getting that from koeman but he “hopes” to get it from another coach. If he chooses to wait and gamble that we’ll that’s on him.

They were all doing great in their loan spells but no one took notice of them . 


If you have come to first team from Barca B , then it definitely means you have the potential to make it there . Because those who are not good enough from B team already gets segregated away even before getting a chance in first team . 

When do big clubs come for you ? When you perform great , No . They come for you when you create Hype and it's only created when you do something at a bigger club . If MATS performed same way at Barca but in Valladolid , nobody would have noticed him , because it's Valladolid not Barca . That's the difference , it's not as simple as you say .

It's just your take that Coach is that important for a player . It's all on Puig anyone can get it , Ok , but why you always have a problem if someone speaks up for him .

I don’t have any problem with anyone speaking up for him, I just have a difference in opinion. 
I always maintained if a player chooses to stay and play for a coach that doesn’t trust him, what does he expect 🤷‍♂️? 
The funny thing is you’re saying the coach may leave soon, okay, but isn’t the same “trust” you’re hoping the new coach have in Puig? So you can’t say koeman’s trust isn’t a big deal but another coach is? You downplay the coaches influence on players and that’s wrong. A coach is the only person responsible for a player minutes.

Great decision by Puig , because if he will go on loan , he will be forgotten like many recent la masia graduates have been forgotten .

If am puig, i would not even think about this, Koeman will not give him many chances this season.. He will waste his career.. Id prefer to go back in barcelona B and be a regular starter than warming the best because Koeman will never give him tge chances he deserve.. I think puig will improve if he goes to a better team that will make him a regular starter...
