The lavish bonuses inserted in the contracts of players at Barcelona during the tenure of Josep Maria Bartomeu was a major part of what crippled the club financially, as per revelations in RAC 1.
Reporters with RAC 1 claimed they got access to details of the contract of two unnamed first-team players.
Firstly, there's an €11m bonus for featuring in a minimum of 50% of the club matches during a season.
Secondly, the club was to pay the two players a staggering €6.7m for not leaving Barca during the 2020/21 campaign, plus another €2.8m if they stayed through the 2021/22 season. The figure would get to €5.6m by the third season.
Thirdly, one of the players would pocket €13.5m as part of his salary per season.
Well, now we know why Barca are in such a financial mess
