Given that Mendes didn't meet with Barca bigwigs on Thursday, talks about Fati's next Barca deal stalled once again. 

The teenager's contract expires in the summer of 2022, which means Barca are already in a race against time to renew it. 

The club wants to peg a €1 billion release clause on Fati's new deal. However, Mendes may also be pushing for a bigger salary for his client.

"In the summer of 2020 we had a  very good offer for Ansu which would have settled the accounts that year," Josep Bartomeu said in his interview with Mundo Deportivo. 

Bartomeu was then asked what club made the offer for 

"Yes, it was from an English club," Bartomeu answered.  It would have been a direct benefit for the year 20-21 but at Barca the sports project prevails and the economy continues."

An injury to Fati in the early stages of the 2020/21 season has seen the teenager's value drop to €65m.

all players  agree to a reduce  wages  but they can't  work for penny's.

you can't  offer  a player 100 a week when his mate are collecting 300 a week.

at least  when you know a player worth 300 a week you offer him at least a 160 a week and plead with him to understand  the club situation.

Bartomeu  overpayed that doesn't mean Laporta will under payed.

those players have families and people depending  on them too if they don't  get paid how will you feel when you see a barca ex player in the street  broke.

There's something  wrong  in Barcelona  that we'll don't  know about. Laporta  need to come clean and explain.

if it means that Barcelona  can't  pay players  wages or something  he should  get a loan.
because  he can't  typically  ask players  to play for free they all agree to take a reduce wages but this stalemate  in almost every  player renewal  shows he's offering dem way to low to accept. 
he even comes  out publicly to say he was hoping  Messi played for free.
