Barcelona are seriously interested in Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The 18-year-old is 'appreciated as a player with huge potential', it is said.
Here are the main things to know about him.
1. He is of Igbo descent. Chukwuemeka was born in Austria to Nigerian parents and later raised in England. He is eligible to play for England, Nigeria or Austria in the future.
2. He could play in 4 positions. While his natural position is in the middle, he has also been tested as an attacking midfielder, a defensive midfielder and even a striker.
3. He is already the hero of England. The midfielder has scored a goal in the recent U19 Euro final against Israel to help his side win the competition. Overall, he netted 6 goals in 13 appearances for England U19.
4. His contract expires soon. Chukwuemeka's current deal with Aston Villa runs until July 2023; in January, he will be available 'for FIFA's training compensation' which is usually a relatively low fee.
