Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie may see their time at Barcelona come to an end quicker than expected if the club can't find the funds to register them in four days' time when the league in Spain resumes.
Sources have confided in ESPN that the aforementioned players would be free to find a new club if La Liga insists that Barca does not have enough money to register all their players.
Barcelona have officially activated three economic levers, but they don't seem to be enough for the five new players to be registered in La Liga, plus Roberto and Dembele who signed new contracts.
Given that Kessie and Christensen joined on free transfers, they could be allowed to leave for free this summer, but that would be the last and unlikely option.
Barcelona have until 31st August to register all seven players with La Liga or face sanctions. But they can start the season with already registered players - excluding the seven.
If Barca officially activates a fourth economic lever, sell someone like De Jong and get players to reduce salaries, it could be enough to see them over the red line.
