'I love him but there was a reason': PSG director explains why he didn't sign Dembele in summer

"We [Paris Saint-Germain] didn't sign Dembele because he's a winger and we're playing with a different formation. I love him. He's great, but we had different plans," PSG director Luis Campos has told the media, per Fabrizio Romano.

PSG usually play in a 3-4-1-2 formation under Christophe Galtier. Ousmane Dembele is a natural winger who is more suited to a 3-4-3 or a 4-3-3 formation.

Besides, the Ligue 1 champions play with the Messi-Mbappe-Neymar trio most of the time, so it would be difficult to imagine Dembele in their starting eleven.

The Parisians reportedly had a pre-agreement with Dembele to join them in the summer – although the player himself says otherwise.
