In his interview with Mundo Deportivo, Oscar Mingueza was asked to comment on his former teammates Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique losing their starting roles at Barcelona this term.
"It's a bit strange. Because after so many years and seeing last year, which was not our best season, they were the ones who stood up for the team and always played well. But it's not my decision," the Celta Vigo defender said.
Key starters last term, both Pique and Alba have been dropped to the bench by Xavi this season around.
The coach has plenty of options at centre-back (when everyone is fit, of course), and the only thing Pique has ahead of the others is experience.
As for the left-back position, it's been reported that Xavi is unhappy with Alba's defensive contribution. At the moment, he seems to be the third choice behind both Alejandro Balde and Marcos Alonso.
