"Nowadays I hear of many tacticians who like the beautiful game and say that winning 1-0 is also beautiful," Diego Simeone told the media after Atletico Madrid beat Girona with this exact scoreline.
"Lately, I've seen that winning 1-0 is highly valued, and that's not easy. Many teams that now do it have a lot of merit. It requires maximum difficulty and a lot of concentration. I like that many of the teams up there are winning 1-0," the Argentine coach explained.
The 1-0 is considered Simeone's 'favourite' score as he usually dictates pragmatic defence-minded football.
