On Tuesday, it was reported by multiple sources that Chelsea had contacted Gavi's agent Ivan De La Pena.
With Gavi free to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, eyebrows were raised around Catalonia. Many Spanish sources claimed that Chelsea wanted to poach Gavi from Barca.
However, according to the highly credible Fabrizio Romano, the meeting between Chelsea and Gavi's agent had everything to do with former Barca coach Luis Enrique and nothing to do with Gavi.
Enrique and Gavi share the same agent, but talks with De La Pena were about the Spanish coach taking over at Chelsea this summer.
Chelsea have the money to place Gavi on a high salary, but according to Romano, the teenager is fully on Barcelona. The club are also optimistic of registering his contract at the end of the season.
