Barcelona president Joan Laporta took aim at Real Madrid for their statements made about the Enrique Negreira scandal and threats made to Barca. He said: “For Real Madrid to come out and say that they feel attacked seems to me an unprecedented exercise in cynicism [suspicion].
“I hope this trial unmasks them. What Real Madrid has done is very bad. Real Madrid have always been considered the royalty team, close to power. In the last seven decades, the executives in refereeing committees have always been club members or former board members at Real Madrid. For decades, the heads of committees were either former socis or former directors of Real Madrid
“Real Madrid has said that it feels harmed by this but it has been, and is, the most favored team by the referees. For Madrid to say this is a cynicism.
“They are a club that wanted to get into the legal dispute (with us). Real Madrid has been favoured by refereeing decisions historically and still today. For a club like Madrid to get involved in this case and say 'we feel attacked', it's a Joke.”
Recently, Los Blancos had made a statement voicing their concern over the referee scandal Barca are facing and felt that they were 'attacked' by it.
Laporta really seems to be burning all bridges with Madrid and has made some damning statements about Los Blancos. It remains to be seen how Real Madrid answers to these comments.
