Dani Alves appeared before a judge in Barcelona on Monday where he once again testified in his ongoing sexual assault case.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian changed his testimony for the fifth time since the process began, finally admitting to penetrative sex with the alleged victim, although he insisted that the sexual act was consensual.
Dani said that he lied initially in order to protect his relationship with his wife who recently divorced him, as per El Pais.
In the previous statements, Dani went from saying that he didn't know the alleged victim, to admitting to meeting her at the Sutton club in Barcelona but denying any sexual relations.
The 39-year-old is currently in preventative prison in Spain where he is waiting for his trial. He still insists on his innocence.
