According to Diario AS, the feeling around Barcelona is that Sergio Busquets will not extend his contract which means he will leave the club at the end of the season.
There was a meeting this week between Xavi and Busquets at a restaurant in Marbella in which they took their wives for a hangout. During the private meeting, Busquets told Xavi of the decision regarding his future.
The 34-year-old confirmed he will make a public announcement to fans about his decision after La Liga title is safely in the bag on May 14. The source claims that Busquets told Xavi he will not continue at the club next season.
Barcelona offered Busquets a one-year deal to extend his contract with a 50% pay cut but Al Hilal are offering to double his current €14m/year salary.
The Saudi Arabia club are also interested in signing Jordi Alba in the summer to help lure Lionel Messi. It now looks like a straight battle between Barca and Al Hilal for the signature of Messi, Busquets and Alba.
